A member of Saratov Opera Company since 1979. Beside her vocal skills, the artist is also a masterful actress both with respect to her stage technique and her deep psychological insight. Her recitalist repertoire is ample and varied embracing Russian and European classical heritage and modern pieces. Her rendition of Katherina Izmailova in Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk was an indisputable success. The production was presented in the Russische Saisons Festival in Germany (Munich,1996). In 1994, her artistic merits were marked with "Honoured artist of Russia" title to be followed by "People’s Artist of Russia" title in 2001. She is a holder of Letter of Honours from the Ministry of Culture of Saratov Region for her outstanding contribution to arts and culture in the area. Svetlana Kostina is the leader of vocal faction of the local branch of Russian Theatrical Society. She has guest-performed in opera houses of Voronezh, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhni Novgorod, and toured Germany and France. Ms. Kostina is associate professor of Voice and Opera Faculty at Saratov Conservatoire.
